12/01/17 Rock Climbing Camp Out, Mt. Lemmon
We will spend the night in the beautiful Santa Catalina mountains, amongst yucca, pine, and grassland. Camping out in Gordon Hirabayashi Campground (Prison Camp) on Friday, we will discover and learn the history of the area as it relates to pivotal events that took place during World War II and the construction of the Catalina Highway. On Saturday, we will explore some of the world’s best climbing on the limitless granite and sandstone domes of Southern Arizona. Outdoor Recreation staff will cover lessons in belaying, rock climbing movement and technique, safety, and climbing ethics. The diverse rock features of the Catalinas will allow you to develop your technique in many different styles of climbing movement. This trip is a unique opportunity to visit and climb at one of the best climbing destinations in the Southwest.
