Personal safety and awareness are now more important than ever! Learn the skills to help protect and even save your life one day.

American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim is made up of six levels of swim and water safety instruction. As participants progress through the upper levels 4-6 and develop these skills, they become safer and better swimmers.  By now you are seeing your child perform a variety of skills with ever-increasing levels of quality and confidence.

Prerequisites for level 5 include swimming front & back crawl 25 yards, treading water for 1 minute and swimming breaststroke for 15 yards.  Additionally participants must be 5+ years old.

In Level 5, Stroke Refinement, expectations are higher for participants in regards to distance and quality. Each class is loaded with activities and drills to build endurance and improve technique.

  • Performing a shallow-angle dive into deep water
  • Swimming the front crawl and elementary back stroke for 50 yards
  • Swimming the breaststroke and back crawl for 25 yards

Due to scheduling demands each lesson session offers various session lengths (4 or 8 classes per session). Please be aware of this when registering for a particular session.  During inclement weather, lessons could be delayed up to 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the lessons will be cancelled and will be made up on a designated make up day. We offer 1 make up day per 4 day session and up to 2 make up days per 8 day session; to be scheduled on the next available regularly scheduled meeting day of each session.

Please Note: Our swim lesson program progresses participants through the learning process of swimming.  Participants will start at their entry level and after successfully completing a skill checklist can progress to the next level.  Each child learns at their own rate and repeating a level is normal for the learning process of swimming.  Instructors are able to make accommodations to suit most skills and abilities, please contact Jaclyn Pryor for more information. 520-621-0473
