For every level of Learn-to-Swim, our instructors build on previously learned skills. Each class is designed to motivate children to want to perform and learn to swim.  It is common for children to participate in several sessions of Level 1-3 before they successfully demonstrate each skill. That is okay! It is not important how quickly they move through a level, but that they acquire each skill.

Prerequisites for Level 2 include: floating with assistance, fully submerge face, comfortable in chest deep water.  Additionally participants must be 5+ years old.

Level 2—Fundamental Aquatic Skills builds on skills learned in Level 1. Some milestones include:

  • Moving into a front float for 5 seconds, rolling to back, floating for 5 seconds then recovering to a vertical position
  • Pushing off and swimming using combined arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths
  • Rolling to back, floating for 15 seconds
  • Rolling to the front then continue swimming for 5 body lengths

All Summer sessions are schedule with 8 classes per session. During inclement weather, lessons could be delayed up to 15 minutes. After 15 minutes past the start time the lesson will be cancelled and will be made up on Friday, of the same week. We offer 1 make up day per week totaling 2 make up days per 8 day session.

Please Note: Our swim lesson program progresses participants through the learning process of swimming.  Participants will start at their entry level and after successfully completing a skill checklist can progress to the next level.  Each child learns at their own rate and repeating a level is normal for the learning process of swimming.  Instructors are able to make accommodations to suit most skills and abilities, please contact Jaclyn Pryor for more information. 520-621-0473
