Take your yoga practice outdoors!  Join us on a day trip to Mt. Lemmon to hike and practice yoga on the mountain.  This trip is a unique opportunity to expand your practice beyond the studio and integrate the natural world into your yoga practice. We will take a drive up the scenic Mt. Lemmon Highway to a mid-mountain destination.  Our day will include hiking on trail to a destination for a wilderness yoga practice and guided meditation.  In the afternoon, we will return to the trailhead and drive back to Outdoor Rec.

Moonlight & Day Hikes

These hikes are a great way to explore the beauty of Southern Arizona. Moonlight Hikes include a light snack, and Day Hikes include lunch. All hikes include guides, transportation and great photo opportunities, so be sure to bring a camera.

Contemplative Hikes

Join the Center for Compassion Studies and Outdoor Rec for this unique event with Leslie Langbert and Gregg Garfin. We'll be exploring the stunning beauty of the Sonoran Desert through the lens of mindfulness and joyful play. This facilitated hike will include opportunities to move your body, open your heart, and calm your mind as you explore and play in pairs and groups. These facilitated activities will deepen your relationship with the natural world.

1/28/18 International Day Hike

Enjoy this 5-mile hike through the thick saguaro forests of Saguaro National Park East. This desert canyon boasts a shallow stream which winds through the Galiuro Mountains. The walls of the narrow canyon rise 1,000 feet above the stream bed.  Along the canyon bottom grows sycamore, ash, cottonwood and willow trees. The canyon is also home to over 300 species of wildlife, including mountain lions, desert bighorn sheep, peregrine falcons and nearly every type of desert songbird. Aravaipa’s spectacular scenery and cool water make it one of the most popular hiking destinations in Arizona, but strict permitting regulations keep it from ever being crowded.  Expect to get wet.
