Interested in a challenging job as a professional lifeguard?  Successful completion of the Lifeguard Training Course results in a 2-year Lifeguarding certification through the American Red Cross that includes lifeguard water skills, first aid, professional-level CPR and AED all in one certificate. Digital certificates available upon successful completion of course.  Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, participants learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard.  Prerequisites: Must be at least 15 years old and pass certain swimming requirements.

Lifeguard Training Session 1

Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard.


Participants must be able to perform the following skills on the first day of the course to continue with the training:

 1. Continuously swim 300 yards (12 laps) using a combination of freestyle & breaststroke.

 2. Swim 20 yards retrieve 10lb brick from depth of 10ft return to starting place with brick at water surface and exit pool (max time 1 minute 40 seconds).

 3. Tread water without using hands for 2 minutes.

Additionally all participants must reach 15 years old by the last day of the scheduled session.
