Lifeguard Training Course

  • Pool Closure: December 21

    The pool will be closed 8a-5p on Thursday, December 21st for pool maintenance.

Interested in a challenging job as a professional lifeguard?  Successful completion of the Lifeguard Training Course results in a 2-year Lifeguarding certification through the American Red Cross that includes lifeguard water skills, first aid, professional-level CPR and AED all in one certificate. Digital certificates available upon successful completion of course.  Instructors can provide a variety of accommodations as needed, however all American Red Cross standards must be passed to successfully complete the course.  

Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard.  Prerequisites: Must be at least 15 years old and pass certain swimming requirements.

Participants must be 15 years old by the end of the course and be able to perform the following skills on the first day of the course to continue with the training:

 1. Continuously swim 300 yards (12 laps) using a combination of freestyle & breaststroke.

 2. Swim 20 yards retrieve 10lb brick from depth of 10ft return to starting place with brick at water surface and exit pool (max time 1 minute 40 seconds).

 3. Tread water without using hands for 2 minutes.
