New Pool Policies

As of June 1, 2021, the Campus Rec pool will be returning to normal operating procedures.  To assist with the transition, the lifeguard check-in table in the Oasis Lounge will remain onsite the first week in June.

All pool policy changes are in line with university-approved protocols and allow for more pool usage at more accessible times for patrons.

Lane reservations are no longer available for the pool.  Swim lanes will be on a first come, first serve basis during regular pool operating hours.  There is also no time limit on swim length.

Patrons are encouraged to use lanes as follows:

  • With 2 swimmers: Split the lane (half and half)
  • With 3-4 swimmers: Circle swim

Lanes are 25 yards long and 8 feet across.  Patrons can socially-distance in the lanes, if they prefer, even with 4 individuals.  Aquatics Staff will encourage individuals to pick empty lanes, but will no longer assign lanes.

Sunbathing on the pool deck will be allowed on lounge chairs.  Tables and chairs around the pool deck will also be available for use.  Moving of furniture is not permitted.

All furniture will be sterilized following university protocols during operating hours and at close.

Youth (ages 17 and under) will be allowed to swim and use the pool.  All children,15 years and younger, must be directly supervised by a parent or guardian. Parent/guardian cannot lap swim while child is in shallow area alone; child must be always in same space as parent/guardian.

Locker rooms used for changing are the only exception to this policy.

Drop-in group practices or instructions are not permitted.  Teams and coaches are expected to rent spaces via the Campus Rec reservation protocols.  Any on-deck coaching will result in participants being asked to leave the facility.

Swim instruction is only allowed via a parent/guardian and child (same household).

Masks are still strongly encouraged.  The University requires non-vaccinated individuals to wear face coverings in all university buildings.

Aquatics Staff are still assessing the potential for equipment checkout.  Further announcements will be made if and when this service becomes available to patrons.

Group reservations will return to the facility.  Reservations will be posted on the bulletin board outside the Oasis when entering the pool deck.  Please reach out to the Aquatic Supervisor staffed at each shift for questions regarding the lane reservations for groups.
