Successful completion of the Lifeguard Training Course results in a 2-year Lifeguarding certification through the American Red Cross that includes lifeguard water skills, first aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer all in one certificate. Digital certificates are available upon successful completion of course. Through videos, group discussion, and hands-on practice, participants learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED, and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard.

Weekend courses are taught in a Blended Learning format which combines online learning with classroom training. Participants who register for these classes must complete all online materials before the classroom portion of the class in order to complete the course. The online training portion will be emailed to participants via the email included with registration the week of the course. The in-person training session of this course is held in the Outdoor Conference Room located off the pool deck near the shallow end of the pool.
Participants must be able to perform the following skills on the first day of the course to continue with the training:
1. Continuously swim 300 yards (12 laps) using a combination of freestyle & breaststroke.
2. Swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10lb brick from a depth of 10ft, return to the starting point with brick held at the water surface and exit pool (max time 1 minute 40 seconds).
3. Tread water without using hands for 2 minutes.
Additionally, all participants must be 15 years old by the last day of the scheduled session.
