AquaCub Swim Lesson Level 4: Fall

American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim is made up of six levels of swim and water safety instruction. As participants progress through the upper levels 4-6 and develop these skills, they become safer and better swimmers.  By now you are seeing your child perform a variety of skills with ever-increasing levels of quality and confidence.

In Level 4, Stroke Improvement, instructors introduce new drills to build on previously learned skills. Some milestones include:

  • Swimming the front crawl for 25 yards
  • Swimming the elementary backstroke for 25 yards
  • Swimming the breaststroke for 15 yards
  • Swimming the back crawl for 15 yards
  • Open turns on the front and back

Level 4 takes place in the northern area of the shallow end of the Campus Rec pool which is 4-4.5ft. deep and is temperature controlled to a range of 81-84 degrees year round.  Instructors may move to another area to practice specific skills such as head first entries.  Click here for more information about the pool layout.

AquaCub swimming lessons include a variety of activities including direct and indirect teaching techniques.  Each 30 minute lesson can be observed to include the following components:

  • Welcome & Water Safety topic
  • Water Warm-up
  • Review Skills- taught through games and drills
  • New Skills- taught through games and drills
  • Games & Drills- to reinforce learned skills
  • Wrap-up and Water Exit

Please Note: Our swim lesson program progresses participants through the learning process of swimming.  Participants will start at their entry level and after successfully completing a skill checklist can progress to the next level.  Each participant learns at their own rate and repeating a level is normal for the learning process of swimming.

Weather policy: In the event of inclement weather (thunder & lightning) the pool is closed for 30 minutes after the last lightning sighting. During this time, lessons could be delayed up to 15 minutes. After 15 minutes past the start time, the lesson will be cancelled. Cancellations are processed on a case-by-case scenario and communicated with participants via email.

Refund Policy: All sales are final. There will be no refunds or makeup lessons should the client be unable to attend the entire session. There will be a $15 transfer fee associated with any client who needs to move to a different session after the initial transaction should there be space available.
