Job Description

Perform a variety of duties to support Campus Recreation. This position will be the primary point of contact for safety audits for Campus Recreation. Employees are responsible for following protocols and performing safety audits and spot coaching student staff on CPR and First Aid. Responsibilities include but are not limited to provide excellent staff support, create a schedule and perform safety audits on 35-50% of part-time staff each semester.

Duties & Responsibilities

-Model department values and expectations
-Serve as team member on the Safety Audit Committee for Campus Recreation
-Perform Safety Audits that includes CPR and First Aid scenarios on student staff 
-Assist in facilitation of successful audits during staff meetings and live audits
-Ensure groups are acting in accordance with Campus Recreation policies and rules
-Serve as a first responder for injuries, accidents and incidents that may occur during your shifts
-Create and follow a safety audit schedule to ensure 35-50% staff audits per semester
-Provide positive feedback to audited staff and coach to correct weak safety skills
-Provide coaching and training to assist staff in improving their ability to respond to emergencies
-Setup/takedown for audits
-Attend staff meetings and trainings
-Special projects as assigned

 

-Must be a student enrolled at UA for minimum of 6 credit hours (employment contingent upon enrollment)
-Excellent customer service skills
-Strong ability to respond to accidents, injuries, and enact the emergency action plan
-Able to work mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, University breaks including summer break

 

Required Trainings/Certifications

The successful incumbent is required to have the following certifications and training: 

-Valid CPR-PR/AED and First Aid Certification from an approved provider (American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety and Health Institute) are required within 30 days of hire; Employees are required to obtain these certifications at their own expense. Campus Recreation offers a discount on certification classes for eligible employees. Other certifications may be considered. Check with your supervisor prior to making arrangements to obtain these certifications.

-All Department of Campus Recreation employees are required to complete blood borne pathogen training within 45 days of hire and renew on an annual basis. 

-Complete New Employee training which includes but not limited to Emergency Action Plan, Nondiscrimination and Anti-harassment Policy training, All-Employee Security (Computer) Awareness, and Online Driver Registration & Golf Cart (if authorized)
