Job Description

Perform a variety of duties to support the Intramural Department of Campus Recreation. This position requires extensive knowledge of customer service, intramural sports, officiating and emergency action procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to supervising student staff, providing excellent customer service, addressing patron, spectators and/or employee issues and/or concerns as needed and respond to any situation that may arise.  Must maintain a positive, polite, considerate, and cooperative attitude and enforce all stated and implied Intramural policies.

Duties & Responsibilities

-Attend staff meetings and trainings, including but not limited to:
*All Staff Training (Fall and Spring Semester)
*Mandatory Supervisor trainings offered throughout the year
*Position specific meetings
-Participation in Student Staff Advisory Committee (50% attendance at meetings and events held throughout the year required) 
-Model department values and expectations
-Communicate and interact with a culturally and behaviorally diverse campus population
-Assist in enforcing that staff adhere to department values and expectations, provide coaching and feedback for improvements; implement “feedback” forms
-Oversee facility opening, closing, weekend and holiday shifts
-Handle scheduling issues such as late arrivals, no shows or illnesses, fill in where appropriate or find substitutes
-Conduct staff training per established curriculum
-Draft staff evaluations for review and assist with select performance reviews
-Maintain the highest level of proficiency on intramural programs and services and help to educate staff
-Keep all forms stocked & available
-Special projects as assigned
 

Requirements

-Excellent customer service skills
-Previous Campus Recreation experience with an exemplary employment record 
-Must possess outstanding leadership, supervisory, customer service and communication skills
-Strong ability to respond to accidents, injuries and enact the emergency action plan
-Must be enrolled at UA for a minimum of 6 credit hours (employment contingent on enrollment)
-Early morning, evening and weekend availability; flexible scheduling and break availability
 

Required Trainings/Certifications

The successful incumbent is required to have the following certifications and training: 

-Valid CPR-PR/AED and First Aid Certification from an approved provider (American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety and Health Institute) are required within 30 days of hire; Employees are required to obtain these certifications at their own expense. Campus Recreation offers a discount on certification classes for eligible employees. Other certifications may be considered. Check with your supervisor prior to making arrangements to obtain these certifications.

-All Department of Campus Recreation employees are required to complete blood borne pathogen training within 45 days of hire and renew on an annual basis. 

-Complete New Employee training which includes but not limited to Emergency Action Plan, Nondiscrimination and Anti-harassment Policy training, All-Employee Security (Computer) Awareness, and Online Driver Registration & Golf Cart (if authorized)
