Leave No Trace Trainer Course
The two-day Trainer Course is a vital component of the national Leave No Trace (LNT) program. It is a condensed version of the Master Educator Course and is designed for educators, guides, agency employees, other outdoor professionals or anyone interested in learning more about minimum impact skills and ethics. This course covers the Seven Principals of Leave No Trace and techniques for disseminating these low impact skills.
Wilderness First Aid
Will you be hiking, camping or participating in scouting activities this summer? Does your job keep you outdoors? If so, the American Red Cross can teach you how to respond to an emergency if you are in an area where help may be delayed in reaching you. The Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid Course taught by our University of Arizona Instructors, includes a backpacking trip through Saguaro National Park. Guaranteed to not only be great training but also great memories.
Outdoor Leadership Training: Backcountry Basics
Designed for those interested in becoming trip instructors for Outdoor Rec, as well as anyone else interested in becoming a better outdoor leader. These classes will provide a solid foundation in the skills and topics needed to be a safe, effective, and prepared wilderness instructor. Topics will include: Risk Management, History and Philosophy, Outdoor Teaching Skills, and Orienteering along with LNT Awareness and Wilderness First Aid certification.
3/21/18 Outdoor Leadership Training: Backcountry Basics
This course meets 7:00pm to 8:30pm every Wednesday, from March 21st to April 25th, 2018. In addition to Wednesday nights, there are two weekend trips (April 6-8, & April 27-29).
4/27/18 Wilderness First Aid
This fast paced, hands on training is designed to meet the needs of trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts and individuals working in remote locations. Outdoor Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning. This course will be field based. All transportation, equipment, instruction and food in the field included. Personal gear such as clothing and footwear not included.
