Special Programs Marketing Assistant

Job Description: 

Perform a variety of duties to support the Department of Campus Recreation Outreach program. Assist with the planning and marketing of special events through the UA Campus Recreation, including but not exclusive to: scheduling, rentals, tabling, and managing social media.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

-Attend staff meetings and trainings

-Model department values and expectations

-Communicate via email and in person regarding logistics of event

-Positive, engaging communication with the general public, specific to each event

-Assist with events planning, schedule and rentals

-Post social media updates and photographs

-Work an array of special event offerings including but not exclusive to: tabling, events on the Mall and at the Rec Center and off-campus

-Transport event tables, banners, literature, etc. to event location

-Responsible for set up and break down of event

-Special projects as assigned

Training and Certifications Required: 

The successful incumbent is required to have the following certifications and training:

-Valid CPR-PR/AED and First Aid Certification from an approved provider (American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety and Health Institute) are required within 30 days of hire; Employees are required to obtain these certifications at their own expense. Campus Recreation offers a discount on certification classes for eligible employees. Other certifications may be considered. Check with your supervisor prior to making arrangements to obtain these certifications.

-All Department of Campus Recreation employees are required to complete blood borne pathogen training within 45 days of hire and renew on an annual basis.

-Complete New Employee training which includes but not limited to Emergency Action Plan, Nondiscrimination and Anti-harassment Policy training, All-Employee Security (Computer) Awareness, and Online Driver Registration & Golf Cart (if authorized) 

Required Qualifications: 

-Excellent customer service skills

-Previous experience with or knowledge of facilitating special events

-Experience working with children in outdoor or experiential programming

-Possess outstanding leadership, supervisory, customer service, and communication skills

-Valid Driver’s License

-Must be enrolled at UA for a minimum of 6 credit hours (employment contingent on enrollment)

-Early morning, evening and weekend availability; flexible scheduling and break availability
