Reservation & Program Policies

Rental Policies

All prices include tax. All reservations are non-refundable.

Rentals

Canoe, paddle board, and bike rentals restricted to current UA students, faculty and staff. All other rentals available to UA students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Bursars, Visa, and MasterCard are accepted. All returns require a check-in setup with customer present to ensure no damages. The equipment may only be used by the renter and cannot be sub-rented or loaned to any other person. All rentals must be made under the renters own name, picked up, and dropped off by the renter. The renter is responsible for the proper care and on-time return of the equipment. They are also responsible for the late fees, damage fees, and replacement fees for all of the equipment rented. No refunds will be given for any rentals or rental reservations unless the rented gear was incorrect or incomplete. The rental must be dropped off in its entirety (all pieces and items present) at due date or the renter may be responsible for late fees or damage fees. 

Reservations

Equipment may be reserved by visiting Outdoor Rec, selecting your equipment, and paying the rental fee up front. All reservation payments are non-refundable. No reservations will be made over the phone. Reservations must be made under the renters own name, picked up, and dropped off by the renter. Reservations may only be made the week-of, they may not be made any further in advance. 

Late Fees, Repair Fees, and Replacement Fees

Every day that a rental is late, it will accrue late fees. If items are overdue by 15 or more days the renter will be charged the full replacement cost of each missing item, in addition to the 15 calendar days of late fees accrued. If renter returns the equipment damaged or broken, they will be subject to pay repair fees up to the whole replacement cost of the item, depending on the severity of the damage.  

 

Program Refund and Waitlist Policies

Guided Trip, SCUBA, and Workshop

Up until two weeks prior to the start of trip/class, enrolled participants may withdraw and receive a full refund minus an administrative fee. For day trips, this administrative fee is $15. For overnight trips and leadership courses, this administrative fee is $35. Until two weeks prior to the start of a trip/class, enrolled participants may also transfer to to a different open trip/class of equal or lesser value. Two weeks or less before the start of a trip or class, no refunds or transfers for trips or classes will be provided, with no exceptions. 

If Outdoor Recreation staff cancel the trip due to low enrollment or other unforseen circumstances, a full refund will be issued. 

Wilderness Medicine 

Deadline for a full refund minus a $35 administrative fee is one month from the start of the in-person part of the course for Wilderness First Responder and 7 days before the start of the course for Wilderness First Aid. 

Outdoor Adventure Living Learning Community 

Deadline for a full refund less $50 administrative fee is July 1st 2023 for the Outdoor Adventures Living Learning Community.
