Arizona Youth University FAQs

AYU is designed for children going into 3rd - 12th grades. We also offer an AYU Voyager program through our traditional “A” Camp, and that is designed for rising 1st and 2nd graders.

AYU is offered at one single rate and is not priced by member/non-member. We do offer UA Faculty/Staff discounts and sibling discounts.

Sibling discounts are automatically applied into your shopping cart when enrolling an additional camper.

Camp drop-off and pick-up varies depending on the camp your child is enrolled in. Parent welcome letters will be sent prior to the camp start date indicating where and drop-off, including a map of where to go.

Camp hours are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drop-off starts 7:30 am to 9:00 am. Pick-up starts at 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Extended care is offered at no extra charge.

Please make sure your child brings a lunch and a water bottle, with everything labeled. An afternoon snack is provided, however you may pack extra snack if you wish.

AYU voyager gives your camper the best of both summer camps combined! AYU Voyager is for rising 1st-2nd graders who have an interest in learning about STEM, but also want to partake in “A” Camp activities. Campers will start their day at “A” Camp for free play in the gym and when camp programming starts at 9:00am they will travel over to AYU for STEM based activities until 12:30pm. Campers will travel back to Campus Rec where they will get to participate in afternoon free swim and closing camp games for the remainder of the day. It is an extra fee like the voyager field trips and swim lessons. Campers must be enrolled in “A” Camp and can not be signed up for any other voyager programs or swim lessons.

We require that each child has a completed registration and emergency contact form, medical consent form (if medication is needed), and behavioral expectations signed by both the parent and child. These are to be brought with the student on the first day of camp. See attached paperwork.

At AYU we understand that schedules can change.  In the event that you are unable to attend camp, a request must be made in writing to Allison Giddings or Erin Tinker one week prior to the start date of the registered camp. Refunds will not be granted after the registered camp start date. Transfer of registration fees can be requested between different programs and weeks if space allows.

Due to the structure of the content, and the amount of group work during a typical week at AYU, we encourage campers to attend all five days and we do not prorate weeks.

Yes, we provide an afternoon snack to all campers during the pm break. Campers are welcome to bring additional snacks if preferred.

For assistance with additional questions or help with registration, please contact Allison Giddings at (520-621-0048) or Erin Tinker at (520-621-6891).
