Facility Policies

  • All patrons must access the facility through a check-in desk and present their ID card (CatCard, Driver's License, or another form of Government Issued ID). Spectators are allowed entry if accompanied by a member, but must register at the Front Desk prior to access. If the spectator is a minor, then the minor must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian and must remain within arms reach of that parent or legal guardian at all times.
  • Any individual who is presenting an ID card (CatCard, Driver's License, or another form of Government Issued ID) that is not their own, will not be allowed entry into the facility. A $20.00 fee is required for the owner of the ID to retrieve the confiscated ID card.
  • Food and drink are not permitted in activity areas. Water is permitted in activity areas in a sealed, non-glass container.
  • Tobacco products, alcohol, and smoking are not to be consumed in any Campus Recreation facility. Cigars, cigarettes, chewing tobacco, snuff, e-cigarettes/vapes/JUULs, and hookahs are considered smoking and tobacco products.
  • Restroom and shower usage are for Campus Recreation patrons only. Loitering is prohibited as the Student Recreation Center is intended for use of students, faculty, staff, guest of the University, and participants in authorized on-campus activities.
  • Patrons are not permitted to use Campus Recreation facilities under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Pets, with the exception of service animals, are not permitted at any Campus Recreation facility. Service animals may be denied access to the facility if there is a threat to the health or safety of others.
  • Appropriate attire is required at all times. This includes wearing a shirt or top and non-marking soled shoes. Swimsuits and swim footwear are limited to the Aquatics area.
  • Per University policy, the use of personal wheeled vehicles (bicycles, skateboards, scooters, hoverboards, etc) is prohibited in University buildings, unless required due to a disability. 
  • All weapons and firearms are prohibited.
  • Photography/filming is not permitted without prior approval from Campus Recreation administrative staff.
  • Campus Recreation programs and classes have priority in all spaces.
  • Disorderly conduct, inappropriate behavior, abuse of the facility, equipment or staff, and/or disregard for Campus Recreation rules may result in immediate dismissal from the facility. Additional sanctions may apply.
  • Private instruction, non-Campus Recreation approved practices or events, or any monetization of services are not permitted unless scheduled via our facility reservation process.
  • Campus Recreation staff members have the final say in policy interpretation and enforcement. Failure to comply with any of the policies may result in temporary or permanent loss of Campus Recreation privileges.
  • Campus Recreation staff members will deny access to the facility to anyone that has been suspended from any Campus Recreation program.
  • The Department of Campus Recreation is not responsible for any lost or stolen personal belongings.
  • Use of informal activity spaces when not scheduled/reserved is first come, first serve.

  • No sitting/standing on boulders

  • Spotters recommended

  • Please walk or run in the direction indicated on the signage.
  • Keep slower activity to the outside lane of the track.
  • Stretching, sitting, or spectating is not allowed on the track.
  • Throwing or dropping items to or from the track is not permitted.
  • Spike shoes, turf shoes, boots, sandals, and open-toed shoes are not allowed.

  • Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen items. We encourage you to lock up your valuables or leave them at home.
  • When a patron puts belongings in a day-use locker, that locker is then claimed. If another patron then puts a lock on that locker, their lock will be cut. Campus Recreation is not responsible for cut locks placed on an already-claimed locker.
  • If a patron causes a lock to be cut that does not belong to them, they will be responsible for replacing that lock.
  • Belongings left in day-use lockers will be cleaned out once the facility is closed for the evening.
    • Locks that are cut will not be replaced.
    • To reclaim belongings, go to Equipment Checkout. A $6 charge is required to reclaim belongings.

  • Inquiries about lost items can be made at Equipment Checkout. The Weight Room also has a lost and found, and those items are taken to Equipment Checkout every night.
  • If you find an item you believe to be lost, please turn it into Equipment Checkout or to the nearest staff member.
  • More valuable items such as cell phones and wallets will be put in our safe, which is cleaned out by UAPD every Wednesday morning. If your item is claimed by UAPD, you will need to contact them directly to reclaim your lost item.
  • Items will be kept for 30 days, and then are donated or discarded.
  • We do not keep toiletries, beverages, or sweaty clothing.

  • A/V equipment may only be accessed by Campus Recreation staff. Groups without a reservation must provide their own A/V equipment.
  • Shoes must be non-marking.
  • Please do not place hands, feet, or equipment on the mirrors.
  • Any workout equipment located in the rooms is only to be used during Campus Recreation programs.

  • Non-marking, closed-toed/heel athletic shoes are required.
  • Hanging on the rim and nets is not permitted.
  • When courts are in demand, members should utilize a waiting system that allows other teams and individuals to participate.
  • Campus Recreation staff is responsible for set-up and take-down of all court equipment to include dividers. Only authorized personnel are permitted to adjust court equipment. Members may visit the Equipment Checkout Desk to request alternate equipment setups.

  • Protective eyewear is strongly recommended.
  • Non-marking athletic shoes are required.
  • Court reservations can be made at Equipment Checkout and online up to 24 hours in advance and cannot exceed one hour.
  • When courts are in demand, members should utilize a waiting system that allows other teams and individuals to participate.

  • Lights can be turned on/off at the Weight Room desk.
  • Players must rinse/brush sand off body prior to re-entering the facility.
  • When courts are in demand members should utilize a waiting system that allows other teams and individuals to participate

  • Use of this facility must be specifically approved and scheduled by Campus Recreation.
  • No glass containers on the premises.
  • Use of complex under the influence of drugs or alcohol is prohibited.
  • Smoking or use of other tobacco products is not permitted.
  • Pets and animals other than service animals are prohibited.
  • No golfing in the complex.
  • When fields are in demand, members should utilize a waiting system that allows other teams and individuals to participate. It is up to the staff's discretion to divide field for multiple activities.

  • You must be 18 years of age or older to use the weight room.
  • Athletic apparel including a tops with straps, athletic shorts or pants, and closed toe/closed heel athletic shoes are required to be worn. Jeans, slacks, or studded clothing is prohibited on upholstered equipment or on any cardio seats. Athletic shorts must cover the buttocks and groin when exercising or moving.
  • Personal items, including but not limited to backpacks, gym bags, purses, racquets, and basketballs are not permitted in the Weight Room.
  • Please maintain control of your weights at all times. Weights may not be thrown and can only be dropped in designated areas. 
  • Use of powder chalk is not permitted in the Weight Room.
  • Bumper plates must be used for Olympic lifts and deadlifts.
  • Please do not place hands, feet, or equipment on the mirrors, windows, or walls.
  • Please limit time on cardio equipment to 30 minutes when others are waiting.
  • Weights and other equipment may not be removed from the Weight Room.
  • Please wipe down your equipment after use and return weights, bars, and benches to the appropriate areas and/or positions.
  • No outside personal training. Organized groups of 5 or more people may not work out together.
  • No unsafe or damaging modifications of the equipment, such as stacking boxes, putting weight plates on pins on cable machines, etc.

  • Must limit use of time in room to 30 minutes
  • Must wipe down any equipment that is used
  • The maximum occupancy is 2

Parking is not provided by Campus Recreation. Please contact Special Events parking at the University of Arizona Parking and Transportation department at 520-621-3710 for any questions regarding parking for your event. There is some general parking information on the Campus Recreation website as well.

  • Campus Recreation lifeguard must be present before entering the water.
  • Adults (18+) must be present at all times to supervise the children in the pool area. Children must be within arms reach of guardians at all times.
  • All users must wear swim attire when entering the pool - no street clothes can be worn in the water.
  • Personal floatation devices must be U.S. Coast Guard Approved. Swimmers using flotation devices are expected to remain in shallower water (shallow end/lane 15).
  • Do not perform hypoxic/breath-hold training. Pool users must take at least one breath for every length of the pool.
  • No bags allowed on deck. All personal bags, backpacks, purses, etc. must be kept in the locker room or designated locker area on deck.
  • No oil-based tanning products allowed on deck.
  • No food, drink or gum allowed outside of the designated areas.
  • Pets are not permitted in the pool area.
  • Please shower prior to entering the pool.
  • Dry off as much as possible before entering the locker room.
  • Be courteous to members and staff.
  • No rough play in the water or on deck.
  • No alcohol or tobacco products.
  • No glass containers of any kind.
  • Respect the facility and equipment.
  • Any person deemed unsafe and or not adhering to the rules will be asked to leave the pool area and building.

Lifeguard instructions and requests must be promptly obeyed and followed. Lifeguards have the authority to make any decisions not specifically covered in the posted rules.

In accordance with the recommendation from the American Red Cross and the National Weather Service, upon the first sighting of lightning, sound of thunder, or detection of lighting within 8 miles (according to a weather tracking app), the pool will be cleared and everyone must evacuate the pool deck until 30 minutes after the last lightning is spotted, thunder is heard or detected.

Additionally, if weather conditions prevent the lifeguard from seeing the bottom of the pool (strong rain, dust storm, hail, etc.) the pool may also be closed until conditions improve.

All minors—defined as being 17-years old or younger (unless enrolled at the University)—must be accompanied at all times by their parent/guardian/custodian unless participating in a structured Campus Recreation youth program. Minors can purchase semester memberships or either day or pool passes only. Minors holding a membership or pass can access SouthREC or NorthREC only during the weekends of the fall and spring semesters; during the summer, minors can access SouthREC or NorthREC seven days a week. Minors can access Campus Recreation fields, courts, pool and bouldering wall, but are restricted from the weight room and all cardio equipment machines. Leaving a minor unaccompanied may result  in the loss of privileges. Minors can be spectators to an event at Campus Recreation but will still be required to be accompanied by and, at all times, be within arms reach of their parent/guardian/custodian.
