Welcome to Teen Swim.
Teen Swim is all about learning at your own pace in a safe, supportive environment. Our certified instructors know their stuff—and they’re here to help you feel confident in the water, no matter your starting point. Whether you’re new to swimming or looking to improve your strokes, we’ve got you.
Open to all teens in the Tucson community, ages 13–17.
TEEN LESSONS
Teen lessons are for ages 13-17 of all skill levels! Come spend your summer by the pool with Campus Rec.
What You Will Learn
Depending on their skill level, participants will be able to:
- Improve confidence in the water
- Perform basic water skills including comfortable entry, submersion, floating, breathing techniques, and an introduction to basic swimming strokes
- Train for swim team
- Learn water fitness strategies for health & wellness
- Develop the skills necessary to take the Lifeguard certification course, to gain employment/resume skills (15+)
Course Delivery
Teen Lessons take place in the northern area of the shallow end and in lane 15 of the Campus Rec pool which is 4-4.5ft. deep and is temperature-controlled to a range of 81-84 degrees year-round.

Swimming lessons include a variety of activities including direct and indirect teaching techniques. Each 30 minute lesson can be observed to include the following components:
- Welcome & Water Safety topic
- Water Warm-up
- Review Skills- taught through games and drills
- New Skills- taught through games and drills
- Games & Drills- to reinforce learned skills
- Wrap-up and Water Exit
Weather policy: In the event of inclement weather (thunder & lightning) the pool is closed for 30 minutes after the last lightning sighting. During this time, lessons could be delayed up to 15 minutes. After 15 minutes past the start time, the lesson will be cancelled. Cancellations are processed on a case-by-case scenario and communicated with participants via email.

Please note: All sales are final. There will be no refunds or makeup lessons should the client be unable to attend the entire session. There will be a $15 transfer fee associated with any client who needs to move to a different series, should there be space available. This is not a guarantee.
