Health and Recreation Fee

  • Approved by ABOR in 2010, this fee ensures the availability of health and recreation services to all students. The fee is split with 49.5% allocated to Campus Recreation and 50.5% to Campus Health.
  • In 2017, ABOR approved an increase of $125 for incoming students, with Campus Health and Campus Recreation continuing to share the fee.
  • In 2022, ABOR approved another fee increase of $172 for incoming students, with the allocation shifting slightly (51% to Campus Health, 49% to Campus Recreation).
  • In 2024, ABOR approved the consolidation of various undergraduate fees into the new Student Engagement Fee, which will now include the Health and Recreation Fee, Recreation Bond Fee, and Recreation Program Fee. Graduate students no longer pay these fees directly, as the cost is incorporated into their tuition.
  • Starting in FY26, the distribution of Student Engagement Fee revenues will be replaced by a direct budget allocation to Campus Recreation.

Recreation Bond Fee

  • ASUA initiated this bond fee in 1986 to fund the construction of the original student recreation center, which was later extended for another 30 years in 2006. In 2011, the fee began to fund an expansion of the recreation facility.

Recreation Program Fee

  • In 2002, the University, in collaboration with ASUA, recommended this fee to support recreation programs, student staff wages, sports clubs, and facilities. ABOR approved the fee.
