NorthREC Now Open

Welcome to NorthREC, the University of Arizona Recreation & Wellness Center at Honors Village!

The University of Arizona Recreation & Wellness Center at Honors Village (otherwise known as NorthREC) opened on August 26, 2019 as part of a new mixed use complex on the northern end of campus.  The complex also includes a 1000+ bed dormitory/apartment building, an integrated dining hall, Honors College offices & indoor/outdoor classrooms, and a satellite location for Campus Health Service’s Counseling & Psych Services (CAPS) clinic.

For more information on the Honors Village, visit housing.arizona.edu/dorms/honors-village.

The Honors Village Complex is located on the north end of campus, in a two block radius consisting of Santa Rita (East), Park (West), Mabel (South), and Drachman (North). It is in proximity to the UA Law School, Eller, Health Sciences, and the Medical College.

NorthREC is located at 1051 E. Mabel Street (Mabel & Fremont).

NorthREC front desk phone is (520) 626-3161.

The NorthREC is approximately 52,000 sq. ft., with 40,000 sq. ft. of new recreational space.  The building is 3 stories and will include both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Parking facilities include a new parking garage and surface lot.

NorthREC is comprised of 3 floors.  The first floor will have ShakeSmart, a lounge, restrooms, fitness equipment, and a sports court (basketball/multipurpose lined court). The second floor will include CAPS offices, a lounge, restrooms, locker area, cabanas, and fitness classes.  The third floor will house a personal training assessment studio, restrooms, offices, multi-purpose rooms, spin studio, fitness equipment, and fitness classes.

NorthREC will service students and members on the north side of campus.

  • Students:  Your membership is included as part of the Health & Recreation Fee; there will not be a separate charge for students to access the new complex.
  • Faculty and Staff:  Information regarding membership options for the NorthREC can be found here.

The UA CatCard will be needed for entry in the facility.
