The University of Arizona Recreation & Wellness Center at Honors Village (otherwise known as NorthREC) opened on August 26, 2019 as part of a new mixed use complex on the northern end of campus. The complex also includes a 1000+ bed dormitory/apartment building, an integrated dining hall, Honors College offices & indoor/outdoor classrooms, and a satellite location for Campus Health Service’s Counseling & Psych Services (CAPS) clinic.
The Honors Village Complex is located on the north end of campus, in a two block radius consisting of Santa Rita (East), Park (West), Mabel (South), and Drachman (North). It is in proximity to the UA Law School, Eller, Health Sciences, and the Medical College.
NorthREC is located at 1051 E. Mabel Street (Mabel & Fremont).
NorthREC is comprised of 3 floors. The first floor has ShakeSmart, a lounge, restrooms, fitness equipment, and a sports court (basketball/multipurpose lined court). The second floor includes CAPS offices, a lounge, restrooms, locker area, cabanas, and fitness classes. The third floor houses a personal training assessment studio, restrooms, offices, multi-purpose rooms, spin studio, fitness equipment, and fitness classes.
Note: Many services are not currently available due to Covid-19 restrictions.
NorthREC will remain open during Arizona home football games (due to its proximity to Arizona Stadium, the REC closes 1 hour before kick-off). All members are granted access to NorthREC on game nights.
