What To Expect:

Prepare for a relaxing afternoon immersed in the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. This Nature Wellness Hike in the Tucson Mountains will begin at the Painted Hills Trailhead on Thursday, February 12th, and is designed to help you slow down, move mindfully, and reconnect with nature.

We’ll hike along scenic desert trails at an easy, supportive pace, with plenty of time to pause for reflection, hydration, and soaking in the surrounding landscape. Expect gorgeous desert views as we explore the area during the cooler late-afternoon hours. This hike is focused on wellness rather than distance, making it accessible to a wide range of experience levels.

This collaboration with Counseling and Psych Services (CAPS) invites CAPS providers to share prompts and activities on the hike. Participants will reflect and, if willing, talk with other participants about their experience out in nature. No previous hiking experience is required, but participants should be prepared for uneven terrain, mild elevation changes, and desert conditions.

Transportation and trip leadership will be provided. Participants should bring sturdy walking or hiking shoes, comfortable clothing, water, snacks, and a headlamp if they have one. Expect gentle movement, meaningful time outdoors, and a calm, grounded end to your day in the desert.
