What To Expect:

Prepare for an immersive backcountry experience in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. This 4-day, 3-night backpacking trip in Saguaro National Park East offers the opportunity to challenge yourself and connect deeply with one of the most unique desert landscapes in the Southwest.

We’ll travel through remote desert trails at a suitable pace for all participants, carrying our gear as we hike among towering saguaro cacti and scenic mountain views. Daily hiking distances will vary, with time built in for breaks, hydration, lunch, and some good old fashion chilling. This trip focuses on intentional travel through the landscape rather than speed or mileage.

Evenings will be spent camping in the backcountry, where we’ll set up camp, prepare dinner together, and enjoy desert sunsets, cooler nighttime temperatures, and star-filled skies. No prior backpacking experience is required, but participants should be prepared for long days carrying a full pack, uneven terrain, elevation changes, and variable desert conditions.

Transportation, backpacking equipment, food and cook kits, and trip leadership will be provided. Participants should make sure to have adequate hiking shoes / boots, appropriate clothing, and be stoked to hike! Expect long days and tired legs, but most importantly, a meaningful outdoor experience that stays with you long after the trip ends.
