North Rec

The University of Arizona Recreation & Wellness Center at Honors Village (otherwise known as NorthREC) opened on August 26, 2019 as part of a new mixed use complex on the northern end of campus. The complex also includes a 1000+ bed dormitory/apartment building, an integrated dining hall, Honors College offices & indoor/outdoor classrooms, and a satellite location for Campus Health Service’s Counseling & Psych Services (CAPS) clinic.

Facility Space
The NorthREC is approximately 52,000 sq. ft., with 40,000 sq. ft. of new recreational space. The building is 3 stories and includes both indoor and outdoor spaces.
Parking facilities include a new parking garage and surface lot.
Amenities
NorthREC is comprised of 3 floors:
- The first floor has ShakeSmart, a lounge, restrooms, fitness equipment, and a sports court (basketball/multipurpose lined court).
- The second floor includes CAPS offices, a lounge, restrooms, locker area, cabanas, and fitness classes.
- The third floor houses a personal training assessment studio, restrooms, offices, multi-purpose rooms, spin studio, fitness equipment, and fitness classes.
Note: Many services are not currently available due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Member Access
NorthREC services students and members on the north side of campus.
- Students: Your membership is included as part of the Health & Recreation Fee; there is not a separate charge for students to access the new complex.
- Faculty and Staff: Information regarding membership options for the NorthREC can be found on the Membership page.
The UArizona CatCard is used for entry in the facility.
